ROUNDABOUT JUMPING BY CIRCUMNAVIGATION
We
are queuing in the left lane to go straight ahead at a roundabout; this is how
it is marked in this particular situation.
The driver overtakes by driving down the lane marked for a right turn; circumnavigates
the roundabout and drives straight ahead from the original position. This is
not driving with due consideration for other road users. If these instances are carried out in view
of a police officer, why not issue an on the spot fine, if you want to
challenge the fine in court and you lose, the fine is increased to cover the
extra costs. If drivers are aware of
these penalties it might make them think before carrying out these manoeuvres.
There seems no deterrent to stop drivers committing these acts of selfishness
and lets be honest about it, it is very frustrating because it happens so
often.
